About the School Counselor

Meet Ms. Wright!

I live in Ashland with my husband, Jackson, and three cats: Toothless, Simon, and Garfunkel (see pictures below). I LOVE reading (Harry Potter!), spending time with loved ones, exercising, and learning.

After graduating from Missouri State University in 2016, I spent four years working as an elementary school counselor in the Monett School District and then joined the New Haven Elementary team in 2020. I believe that social and emotional skills are critical to a child's success and the school environment should be an equitable place for all students to feel safe, respected, and valued in learning those skills.

I am passionate about partnering with family members and school staff to ensure we all are working together to help students strengthen their resiliency, build healthy relationships, celebrate their successes, and grow from their mistakes. I look forward to working with you and your child!

What Does the School Counselor Do?

Curriculum

Classroom lessons to teach students about themselves and others, safety, bullying prevention, coping skills, emotion management, and problem solving

Individual Planning

Help students with career and academic success

Responsive Services

Individual, small group, and crisis counseling; collaboration and consultation with school staff, family members, and community agencies; referrals for mental health services outside of school
